Abraham-Miranda rescheduled for September 23!

Press Release: The IBF middleweight title fight between titleholder Arthur Abraham and Edison Miranda has been re-scheduled. Abraham, who came down with the flu, requiring the postponement,  is now going to defend his belt on September  23, 2006 on Sauerland´s  "International Pro Boxing Gala" at Wetzlar, Germany, a town north of Frankfurt. “We tried hard to reorganize the fight [quickly]," said Abraham´s manager Wilfried Sauerland. “The date on 23rd September has already been coordinated with our TV partner ARD. Therefore this is the easiest and best solution.”Dr. Albrecht Blüse, member of the German Sports Doctors Alliance, had diagnosed  Abraham with a febrile influenza infection and an inflammation of the nasal sinuses  but Miranda was doubtful, saying in a press release, “is he sick? I doubt it – probably just a case of cold feet. Word got out in Germany about my power - perhaps he read the polls that said over 50% of the boxing world thinks I am going to knock him out in his back yard.  The truth is he will never be ready. But I give the guy some credit – now he gets to enjoy the belt for another month before I steal it from him.”  Abraham reacted. “If his fists are even fast as his mouth, it may be an interesting fight. Of course I regret having had postponed the fight. I didn´t struggle during the three-month preparation for nothing. At the moment my state of health is not 100% fit but the medicine has been a great help to me and it get´s better. I think I can start to train next week. On September 23rd, I´ll put Miranda in his place.”
