04 Olympian to fight for South African title!

Press Release: One of the finest South African prospects, middleweight Kgotso Motau, could be destined for national title glory.   The former Olympian, unbeaten in his eight professional outings with a 100 percent knockout ratio, has been penciled in to challenge for the vacant South African middleweight title against top contender Simon Mokoena at the Nasrec Indoor Arena in Johannesburg on August, 2006. This was confirmed by Motau's promoter, Branco Milenkovic, after long-time domestic middleweight kingpin Mpush Makambi decided to relinquish his title.  "It's all signed and  sealed," beamed Milenkovic. "As per BSA regulations of course, the country' s top two contenders in a specific division get an automatic crack at a vacant title and I am delighted to say we (BSP) have managed to sign Mokoena to face #2 Motau in a dream match-up," added Milenkovic.  Of Motau's eight knockouts, six ended in the opening round; one in round two and another in round five.  "After Motau stopped 29-fight veteran Christopher Buthelezi in February, not even very attractive purses could lure any  boxers to fight Motau," says former four-time world champion and co-promoter Baby Jake Matlala. Mokoena's record is 16-15-5 but he did go the distance against former IBF champion Roman Karmazin.
