WILDER VS. FURY ON THE CUSP OF GETTING SIGNED?
According to ESPN, a fight between WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and undefeated former world champion Tyson Fury is close to getting finalized for a date in November. Wilder's co-manager, Shelly Finkel told ESPN, "I believe it will get done. I think we're close," he said. "I would hope next week it comes together. It's a big fight, but it's not done until all the paperwork is done... The rematch clause (which is not done yet will get worked out." Wilder is 40-0 and Fury is 26-0. Fury has a relatively safe fight scheduled in about two weeks, against Germany's Francesco Pianeta. He's had one easy tune-up after missing more than two years with injuries and personal problems, so a fight vs. Wilder would seem a bit sooner than optimal from Fury's standpoint. --Scott Shaffer
