BETERBIEV CLAIMS IBF LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
By Scott Shaffer

Artur Beterbiev TKO12 Enrico Kolling... As expected, Artur Beterbiev claimed the vacant IBF light heavyweight championship, stopping Germany's Enrico Kolling in the twelfth round of a fight held in Fresno, California.  A Russian who now fights out of Canada, Beterbiev dominated the defensive-minded Kolling for eleven rounds, and then turned the pressure up in the twelfth.  Beterbiev dropped Koelling twice in the last round and the referee did not bother to count after the second fall. Beterbiev threw an astounding 1,111 punches in less twelve rounds, landing 322 of them.  By comparison, Kolling threw only 252 and landed 64. Beterbiev is now 12-0 with 12 KOs, and can look forward to some huge fights in the loaded 175-pound division.  Beterbiev holds an amateur win over fromer champion Sergey Kovalev, who will soon fight for the vacant WBO title. Kolling is now 23-2 and didn't do enough to warrant another fight at the world level.  source: espn
