BENAVIDEZ CAPTURES WBC TITLE WITH SPLIT DECISION OVER GAVRIL
By G. Leon

David Benavidez SD10 Ronald Gavril: David Benadvidez (17), and Ronald Gavril, 18-2 (14), gave boxing fans an entertaining scrap for the vacant WBC super middleweight title in tonight's Showtime main event. This fight truly could have gone either way. The early action belong to Benavidez, Gavril came back strong in the middle rounds and the fight could have been even on the cards after ten rounds. Benavidez appeared to get a second win in round eleven as he battered Gavril from pillar to post. Benavidez was having a strong twelfth round as well, but was decked by a left hook with less than a minute to go in the fight. Benavidez made it to his feet and finished the round. Official scores were 116-111 Gavril, 116-111 and 117-111 for Benavidez. Source: Showtime
