GUYANESE FEATHERWEIGHT GETS 25 YEARS FOR MURDER

According to the New York Daily News, former professional boxer Trevis Hall has been sentenced to 25 years in New York state prison for murdering his girlfriend with a knife and pipe. Now 31 years old, Hall was born in Guyana and campaigned as a featherweight out of New York City. He won the 2009 Golden Gloves as an amateur and was 6-1-1 as a pro, with his last fight coming in 2014 prior to the murder. His last win was his best, a six-round decision over Angel Gonzalez, who entered the bout at 7-1. Hall was convicted of the murder in July, and sentenced onThursday. --Scott Shaffer
