GL: We're just a few days away from Antonio Nieves fighting for his first world title against WBO super flyweight champion Naoya Inoue. Can give us some thoughts on the fight? Well, Antonio is one of the best fighters in the bantamweight division. He trains very hard and he's shown in his last three fights against other top rated contenders that he is world class. I think he's going to give a very good accounting of himself and surprising a lot of people. A lot of people are very high on Inoue and I know Antonio is going to ready. I know he's showing up to win and I expect him and put on a great performance on HBO.
GL: Will he be campaigning at 115 pound moving forward?
Dmitriy Salita: "There seems to be a lot of interest in the 115-118 pound divisions, I know Antonio can fight at either weight division and he's showed and proved that he's all about fighting the best. That's a discussion for me to have with Antonio after the fight, hopefully with a belt wrapped around his waist. After the fight we're going to see what makes the best sense for Antonio moving forward and that's what we're going to do."
GL: What's up with Jarrell Miller, when can we expect him back in the ring?
DS: "Jarrell did a fantastic job on July 29. He beat the biggest name on his resume coming off an eleven month layoff and not really have a lot of time to prepare for the fight. With that being said he gave an A+ performance. We're expecting to keep him busy and get him the best fights we can to progress his career and enhance his brand. In a few fights he's going to be fighting for the heavyweight championship and he's going to be the kind of champion that gets the boxing community in New York and all over the world excited again. He's got huge crossover potential and I think the sky is the limit for him. There's going to be an announcement coming very soon."
GL: Will he be fighting before the end of the year? What I've heard is he could be fighting on the Wilder-Ortiz undercard in November.
DS: "Yes and the plan is for him to be in there with a step up from Gerald Washington. Jarrell wants to fight the best available guys, he doesn't just talk the talk, he walks the walk. I'm not going to comment on what you've been hearing because nothing is official until announcements are made."
