VAUGHN ALEXANDER ADDED TO HBO LATINO BROADCAST
By Doveed Linder
This Saturday, April 15th, St. Louis-based middleweight Vaughn “The Animal” Alexander (7-0, 5 KOs), the older brother of former two-divison world title holder Devon Alexander, will be in a ten-round fight against Mexico's Andres Calixto Rey in Uncasville, Connecticut. Rey is listed at 14-3 with 9 KOs by Fight Fax, while the more accessible Boxrec reportedly has his record wrong. The 31-year-old Alexander told Boxingtalk, “I live the life of an animal. I’m always in the gym and I’m gonna take over this boxing game. All praises due to Allah!” Alexander trains at Sweat Gym in Clayton, Missouri under the guidance of his older brother Lamar. Alexander went to prison in 2005, but remained in good condition all of these years with the intention of resuming his career. In the amateurs, Alexander defeated Timothy Bradley, Anthony Dirrell, Austin Trout and Vanes Martirosyan. Since his release from prison, he is 2-0 and has signed a promotional contract with Main Events. Boxingtalk wishes Alexander luck Saturday night as he continues to pursue his goal of becoming a world champion.
