MICHAEL KATSIDIS RETURNS THIS WEEKEND
Press Release: At today's weigh-in in Toowoomba, Australia, certified warrior Michael Katsidis (31-7) and Josh King (20-4) wasted no time eye balling each face-to-face. Katsidis, who has only fought once since 2014, will battle King for the Brayd Smith WUC welterweight title. King is coming off a loss to Ricky Burns, the current WBO 140-pound title holder. In the heavyweight ranks, Herman Ene-Purcell (11-5) and King Afa Tatupu (9-6) will also meet for the first ever Brayd Smith WUC heavyweight title. King Afa is a former New Zealand champion, who lost his title to current WBO champion Joseph Parker.
On the undercard, reigning Queensland welterweight title holder Jamie Hilt (5-11) takes on polished New South Welshmen Eddie Dos Santos (4-1-2); Gareth Prior (1-0) takes on Toowoomba's Maks Chylewski (1-2) and reigning Aussie 130-pound champ Brent Rice (5-0) tunes up against Thailand's Apichat Koedchatturat (2-13).
The biggest roar was for the little big men, Adrian Alloy Young and Junior Bomber Richards. The two young local lads will box an exhibition contest. Earlier in the day will be the third Brayd Smith Cup City vs Country amateur tournament featuring 13 bouts between the State's up-and-coming prospects. The Brayd Smith Cup card begins at 4pm and will be followed by the pro show which will begin at 6.45pm.
