GL: How has everything gone in camp and what can we expect to see from you on Saturday night? Camp went great. Saturday night is going to be action. It's going to be straight action, 100% action. GL: How's your hand feeling? How long did it take for you to be able to throw it again? My hand feels great, my doctor told me to rest it for a month. I had a hand contusion, it wasn't broke or anything, so I rested it and after the month I was good to go, so I'm ready to work.
GL: What are your thoughts on David Lemiuex as a fighter?
Curtis Stevens: "He's an excellent fighter. He's come forward and he comes for the kill and he has a big left hook that he depends on. That's really all I have to say on him, and he can't really take a punch.
GL: How do you feel you've improved since you started working with John David Jackson?
CS: "I'm a little more relaxed now. I'm not going out there looking for the one punch, I'm not going out there looking for no home-run. I'm not going in there looking for one shot no more, when it comes it comes. I'm just more relaxed and getting to be the overall Curtis Stevens."
GL: Both of you guys are punchers, is there any way this fight goes the distance?
CS: "No. No. No. It's scheduled for twelve, and I don't know which round it's going to be over in, but I don't think it's going to go the distance."
GL: What weaknesses do you see in Lemieux that you feel you'll be able to exploit?
CS: "He comes forward a lot. If he could box then I could say to myself I have to worry about him moving too much, but the only thing I've got to worry about is him coming forward. This is like two trains about to run into each other, it's going to be a head on collison."
GL: What do you consider your biggest advantage going into this fight?
CS: "I'm the better overall fighter, I can box and I can slug and you never know which one you're going to get. I could come in there and it could be a trainwreck or I can come in there and just move on him."
GL: What would a victory of Lemiuex mean to you?
CS: "I'd get the next best thing at Golden Boy, I'm 1-0 against a Golden Boy fighter, now I'm going to be 2-0 and I'm looking to make it 3-0 against their next top prize, so bring on the redhead."
GL: Who do you like in the Golovkin-Jacobs bout?
CS: "May the best man win, give me the winner. That could be the next thing too. Me and GGG could start round 8 over again and me and Danny could mix it up too. I'll tell my uncle and them to put their battle gear on."
GL: Is this a do or die fight for you in terms of competing at the highest level?
CS: "No. I'm not looking at it like that. I'm looking it as two of the top middleweights fighting each other. I believe there is no one else for me and Lemieux to fight. I just got finished fighting De La Rosa, Lemieux just got finished fighting and I don't know who the f**k he fought, so who else is there for me and Lemiuex to fight besides each other. It's a good fight for the middleweight division and I don't think the loser is going to have a big stepback. We are two of the strongest punchers in the middleweight division, so this fight could go many ways. It could go one round and the shit could be over, whatever round it goes, it's a great fight for the fans in the middleweight division."
GL: Other than victory do you have a prediction?
CS: "I'm grateful for the victory and winning big."
GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?
CS: "Get your popcorn and soda ready and go to the bathroom before the fight starts."
