LUBIN = HAMMER; COTA = NAIL

Erickson Lubin TKO4 Joge Cota... At Barclays Center in Brooklyn, 21 year-old Erickson "The Hammer" Lubin lived up to his nickname by stopping Mexico's Jorge Cota with a huge left in round four. The junior middleweight bout was a WBC eliminator, meaning Lubin is now in line to face WBC titlist Jermell Charlo. The first two rounds were uneventful. In the third, Lubin began to land some heavy shots, but Cota took them well and waved Lubin forward for more action. In the fourth round, Lubin detonated a left-hand bomb to Cota's jaw that would have left most opponents unconscious. Cota miraculously beat the count but was in no shape to continue. Lubin is now 18-0 with 13 KOs. If he has a weakness, it is that his shots are wide. He has not yet fought world class competition, but his sensational punching power makes him a threat against Charlo or anyone else for that matter. Cota drops to 23-2.
