Unbeaten super featherweight Jose Pedraza faces off against Juan Carlos Martinez in a 10-round bout on August 15.  The battle will take place at the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez and will be the co-feature before the main-event (Rustam Nugaev vs. Denis Shafikov).  In this interview, Jose Pedraza steps into the doghouse and gives readers his take on his upcoming challenge.  Enjoy!

Benny Henderson Jr.: Give the readers your thoughts on your upcoming match-up against Juan Carlos Martinez.

Jose Pedraza: I know Martinez is coming in hungry to upset me.  He just had a good win against Alejandro Perez. So I'm expecting a very tough fight, but I feel I'm the superior fighter in this matchup.

Jose Pedraza: He's a very dangerous opponent.  Like I said he's coming off an impressive win and he's looking for the upset.  This is his opportunity to knock me off so I'm not taking him lightly.

BH: As a young man in the fight game, what do you feel are your greatest assets as a fighter, and what do you feel you can improve on to make you a complete fighter?

Jose Pedraza: I feel my ring intelligence is one of the best gifts God has blessed me with.  As a fighter, you need to make adjustments in fights to out think your opponent.  I feel I do that well. In this game there is always room for improvement, so I'm constantly working on everything.  I have big dreams to be the best fighter to every come out of Puerto Rico, and it takes hard work.  Continue Reading...
