GUTIERREZ LOOKS FOR 30TH WIN IN MEXICO ON SATURDAY
Press Release: Super bantamweight up-and-comer Andres "Jaguar" Gutierrez (29-0-1) will look to keep his "0" intact on Saturday, August 9, when fights at home against Mexico City's Mario "Huracan" Macias (26-12) in Queretaro, Mexico on Saturday. This twelve rounder will be broadcast on Televisa and Fox Deportes, along with a ten-round women's title bout featuring IBF female 105-pound champ Victoria Argueta of Mexico City defending against Guadalajara's Alondra Garcia.
Currently ranked number one by the WBC, Gutierrez (29-0-1, 22 KOs) is closing in on a WBC title shot at the age of 21.
Fresh from the biggest win of his career, an eighth-round technical knockout of Braulio Santos in March, 29-year-old Mario "Huracan" Macias (26-12, 13 KOs) hopes to deliver another upset victory on Saturday against Gutierrez. A nine-year pro who was stopped by Koki Kameda for the WBA bantamweight title in 2011, Macias is now hoping to move up the 122-pound ladder in the coming months.
Three months removed from her title-winning effort against Nancy Franco in May, 23 year-old Victoria Argueta (12-1, 4 KOs) will defend her IBF 105-pound title for the first time on Saturday.
A 19-year-old, Alondra "Magnifica" Garcia (9-1, 1 KO) has been competing professionally since 2012. In her most recent fight, Garcia outpointed Montserrat Alarcon in May, and now she's ready for Argueta.
The Fox Deportes broadcast begins at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT and the Televisa broadcast airs at 10:30 p.m. CT.
