PASCAL WHIPS BUTE HANDILY
Jean Pascal W12 Lucian Bute: The Canadian superfight between former world light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal and ex-IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute did not turn out so super because Pascal defeated Bute handily over twelve rounds. Official scores were 118-110, 117-111 and a surprisingly close 116-112, all in favor of Pascal. The Montreal Gazette scored it 118-110 for Pascal. Bute's face was bloodied by Pascal's punches, and the only bright spot for Bute came in the final round, when he landed some solid punchjes but could not get the knockout he needed. Pascal's team for this fight included future Hall of Famer Roy Jones, strength coach Angel Heredia, and of course, Boxingtalk publisher Greg Leon. Pascal is now 29-2-1 and hopes to be a more active boxer after waiting for Bute to recover from hand surgery. Bute is now 31-2 and clearly his career has lost a lot of its luster.
Carlos Takam D10 Mike Perez... In his first fight since brutally ending the career of Magomed Abdusalamov, Mike Perez was luck to earn a majority draw with French import Carlos Takam. Takam, who holds a win over Michael Grant is now 28-1-1 while Perez barely remains undefeated at 20-0-1.
