Sergio Mora W10 Gregorz Proksa... In Jacksonville, Florida, middleweight Sergio Mora, often criticized for his conservaive boxing style, saved his career with a wide unanimous decision victory of Poland's Gregroz Proksa. Shaking off ten months of inactivity, Mora (pictured) made the former European  champion miss badly and pay for those misses. "Give me credit," said Mora afterwards, "this is the sweet science and I am a scientist." Mora is now 24-3-2, while Proksa drops to 29-3.  source: espn2 friday night fights

Vicente Mosquera TKO7 Cosme Rivera... In Kissimmee Florida, ex-130 pound titlist Vicente Mosquera stopped late replacement Cosme Rivera in the seventh round of a welterweight bout. Mosquera (33-2-1) trounced Rivera (35-17-3), but the tough-as-nails Mexican never went down prior to the doctor's recommendation to stop the fight. Rivera accepted the fight on one day's notice after Mosquera's original foe, Joan Guzman, came in more than eight pounds overweight. The WBA refused to sanction the fight for its meaningless interim title, but Rivera gamely saved the main event. Mosquera, from Panama, is working his way back into contention after a period of incarceration. source: espn deportes website

Frankie Gavin TKO7 Dennis Vassell.. In Liverpool, England, welterweight Frankie Gavin won a battle of unbeaten prospects. Gavin landed a hard shot to Denton Vassell's jaw, likely breaking it, which caused the referee to end their Commonwealth title bout. Gavin, a former amateur world champion, was winning the bout prior to the stoppage, and received a win by technical knockout. His pro record improves to 16-0 while Vassell falls to 20-1. source: daily mail

Xiong Zhao Zong W12 Denver Cuello...  In Dubai, Xiong Zhao Zong of China retained the WBC 105-pound title via majority decision over The Philippines' Denver Cuello. Favored to win coming in, Cuello fought through a difficult shoulder injury and showed virtually no offense, which made the majority decision a surprise verdict. The official scores were listed as 115-112, 113-110 and 113-113. Xiong is now 21-4-1. He was a complete paper titlist coming in, so this win gives him minimal credibility. Cuello drops to 33-5-6, with the shoulder injury costing him a very winnable world title fight.  source:  Derek Dbo Bonnett facebook page
