FURY TOO STRONG FOR CUNNINGHAM
By Scott Shaffer

Tyson Fury KO7 Steve Cunningham... At New York City's Madison Square Garden, a floor below where the Knicks and Celtics competed in the opening round of the NBA playoffs, giant-sized Tyson Fury burnished his credentials as a legitimate heavyweight contender, using a 44-pound advantage to to stop a competitive but undersized Steve Cunnigham. Fury knocked out Cunningham in the seventh round with a powerful right, ending what had been a close fight between a super-sized heavyweight from England and a former cruiserweight champion from Philadelphia. In the second round, Cunningham (25-6) earned the respect of Fury (21-0) by knocking him down. Fury also lost a point in the fifth round due to a headbutt. But Fury used his size effectively and wore down Cunningham. Fury set up the knockout blow with a body shot that backed Cunningham into the ropes and then finished him off a few seconds later. It was the second straight loss on Cunningham's record, a misleading statistic because most observers felt Cunningham's recent loss to Tomasz Adamek was due to poor judging.  source: nbc
