EUROPEAN CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION TO FIGHT IN DENMARK
Press Release: On April 13th in Frederikshavn, Denmark, European cruiserweight champion Mateusz “The Master” Masternak (29-0, 21 KOs) will seek win number 30 against Sean Corbin (15-3, 10 KOs) in a twelve-rounder. Corbin, from Guyana, is coming off a win over ex-WBC titlist Wayne Braithwaite.
Promoter Nisse Sauerland said, “Mateusz Masternak has incredible boxing skills and his record speaks for itself. He will be the Master of Disaster for Corbin.” The hard-hitting Pole has knocked out 21 of his 29 opponents. Following a successful amateur career Masternak turned professional in 2006 and wasted no time making his presence known, dispatching his first five opponents inside the distance. In only his eleventh fight Masternak defeated Alex Mogylewski with a fifth-round KO. At the age of 25, he then became the EBU cruiserweight champion following a one-sided victory over Juho Haapoja last December. In Frederikshavn, he will not put his European title at stake.
Tickets are available at www.arenanord.dk. On the same card, WBA, WBC & WBO Female Welterweight Champion Cecilia Braekhus will defend her titles against American challenger Mia St. John, while unbeaten youngsters Erik Skoglund and Luke Blackledge will collide at 175 pounds. Torben Keller, Micki Nielsen and Dennis Ceylan will also be flying the flag for Denmark, with Swedish amateur star Anthony Yigit making his professional debut. Tim-Robin Lihaug and Oscar Ahlin will add another chapter to the Norwegian-Swedish rivalry.
