J'LEON LOVE TO FACE BRONCO MCKART ON FEB. 23 IN DETROIT
By G. Leon
GL: You're going to be fighting former champion Bronco McKart on February 23rd in Detroit. What can we expect to see from you on fight night? "It's a good step up for me I think. Bronco has been around the game for a long time. He's got a lot of experience, he's fought Winky Wright and Kelly Pavlik. I'm just looking to go in there and dominate. He's an older fighter, I'm a young fighter. I know I'm faster than him, I'm talented and I know he's well schooled in the game, but I'm just looking to dominate and put on a good show in my hometown."
GL: Do you expect McKart to go the distance?
J'Leon Love: "No I don't. I think the earlier rounds will be the harder rounds because he's going to try to survive at first. He was stopped in his last fight and we're going to try to keep that pressure on him, be aggressive and do what we do best and get him out of there."
GL: Fighting somebody like McKart who has over 65 fights kind of puts on a fast track afterwards doesn't it?
JL: "YOu can't take steps back, you always have to move forward. He's been around the game and fought so many different people, so why take a step back after that. McKart was a champion and he held a couple of different titles, so why move backwards. I want to fight better and better guys."
GL: Do you see yourself fighting for a world title this year?
JL: "If not by the end of this year definitely early next year. But I see it happening very soon."
GL: Who is training you for this fight?
JL: "Roger Mayweather. He's working with me on the pads and working with me on defense and a few other things. As a prospect I was still making a lot of silly mistakes. I'm trying to correct those mistakes and come out sharper. I know I'm a sharp fighter, but there's always room to correct mistakes."
GL: Closing thoughts?
JL: "Shout out to Boxingtalk and everybody who follows my career. It's a long journey, but I'm appreciative of everybody's support and I will get to the top."
