EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: YUDEL JHONSON
By G. Leon
GL: What made you decide to sign with Aquinity Sports?
Yudel Jhonson: It was a decision my manager made for my career and whatever he feels is best that's what I will do. We didn't leave on bad terms with our former promoter but it was time for a fresh start. I'm very happy with my new team and this is gonna be a big year."
GL: Can you give us some thoughts on last week's win [an eight-round decision over Dashon Johnson]?
YJ: I fought a tough kid named Johnson. It was the type of fight I needed to get back on the saddle it was tough and got a good strong eight rounds in. Now it's back to the gym to be ready for whatever fight is next.
GL: What's the game plan moving forward?
YJ: I want to become a world champion. I'm moving down to 147 pounds where I feel I will be stronger and it never hurts to put smaller gloves on we really feel like my power will be devastating at welter.
GL: What did you learn from the Willie Nelson fight [a ten-round decision loss last May]?
YJ: To me. [I must be] more prepared and that every fight is do or die. I've taken a step backward after that loss and I dont want it to happen ever again so I will prepare myself to be the best Yudel Jhonson every fight.
GL: What are your goals for this year?
YJ: Position myself for a world title. I know my team will work hard as I will with my trainers do have a great 2013
GL: Are you confident that your new promoter will be able to get you the fights you're looking for? If yes, why?
YJ: My new promoter with my manager Luis Decubas Jr. will get me all the fights I'm looking for I just need to train hard and be ready.
GL:. Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?
YJ: Everyone look out for me this year I feel revived and 2013 will be a big year. God Bless.
