Press Release: Walsall, England's Martin Gethin has a golden opportunity to become British lightweight champion when he faces Hove's Ben Murphy (9-5-1) for the vacant title on Friday January 18th in Gethin's hometown in the West Midlands region. Gethin, 23-3-1, is  coming off a career-best win over Carl Johanneson in September (Johanneson holds a win over current WBO titlist Ricky Burns). Despite his poor record, Murphy has a few good wins on his resume. The title was vacated by Gavin Rees, who is slated to challenge Adrien Broner for the WBC belt. Gethin-Murphy will be promoted by Frank Warren, in association with Errol Johnson, and headlined by Frankie Gavin's British welterweight title defense against Jason Welborn.
