WOMEN'S TITLE BOUT SLATED FOR FRANCE THIS WEEKEND
Press Release: On October 20th in Sedan, Ardennes, France, Anne Sophie Da Costa faces ex-champion Teeraporn Pannimit for the vacant WBF Women’s strawweight belt. The 30-year-old Da Costa turned pro in 2009 and is now 13-0. Thailand's Pannimit is far more accomplished than her French adversary. Since turning pro in 2007, she has compiled a 17-6 ledger against some of the best female fighters in the world. In 2010, she won the WBO female 105-pound title, and made one successful defense before losing on points in Germany to Susi Kentikian in a bid for the WBO, WBA and WIBF titles at flyweight last year. Earlier this year, Pannimit rebounded to win her second world championship when she beat Filipino Gretchen Abaniel for the WBO title she gave up when challenging Kentikian. She lost the title two months later to undefeated South Korean Su-Yun Hong in China, but came back with a victory in July to tune-up for this opportunity.
