HERNANDEZ WINS CLOSE DECISION OVER ROSS
Yoan Pablo Hernandez W12 Troy Ross.. In Germany, IBF cruiserweight champion Yoan Pablo Hernandez survived a knockdown to narrowly defend his title against Canada's Troy Ross. According to reports out of Ross' home country, the knockdown came in the fifth round, and left Hernandez trying to survive until the bell, even turning his back to buy time. But Canadian reports also said Ross didn't fight aggressively in the next couple of rounds, and many rounds were close, with both men getting hurt in the ninth round. Hernandez tired in the eleventh, but held on to win by official scores of 114-113, 115-112 and 116-112. The judges were from neither boxer's country, hailing from United States, England and Belgium. Ross is advised by Boxingtalk publisher Greg Leon, so Ross will no doubt air his views of the fight on this site when he returns to Canada. source: cbc (canada)
