CORNELIUS BUNDRAGE NO LONGER WORKING WITH EMANUEL STEWARD
By Doveed Linder

IBF junior middleweight champion Cornelius “K-9” Bundrage (32-4, 19 KOs) declares himself a promotional and a managerial free agent and expresses his desire to fight the big names at 154 pounds.

DL: What’s the latest and greatest?

Cornelius Bundrage: The latest is I’m a free agent.  I have no manager, no promoter.

DL: Emanuel Steward is no longer your manager?

CB: Not any more.  Our contract has expired.  I still love Kronk and I still have love for Emanuel Steward, but I’m a free agent now and it’s time to see what’s out there.

DL: I’m looking at Boxrec right now.  They’ve got you ranked at number three in the junior middleweight division and number fifteen on the pound for pound list.  Have you been getting any offers since your recent knockout of Cory Spinks?

CB: My phone has been ringing off the hook.  I’m “America’s Most Wanted”.  All the big promoters have been on my phone.  Now that I don’t have a manger, I’m sure all the big mangers will be calling me, too.

DL: Are you going to be back in the ring in 2012?

CB: Oh, yeah.  I want to defend my belt at the Joe Louis Arena.  I’d like to do business with Miguel Cotto.  He doesn’t have a manger and a promoter.  I’ve got a strap and I’d like to give him an opportunity.  All unifications lead to “K-9”.

DL: You’ve been a champion for two years now.

CB: That’s right.  They say I’m an old man.  Prove it!  All the big promoters have already contacted me.  I’m going to save all the details for my book that’s coming out.  It’s called “Don’t Bark If You Can’t Bite”.

DL: What is your assessment of your June 30th knockout over Cory Spinks?

CB: I knew Cory Spinks was going to bring his A game.  I take my hat off to Cory Spinks for everything he’s done in his career and everything his family has accomplished in boxing.  I think he still has something left to give.  I don’t think he’s washed up.  Styles make fights and I was the better man.  But I don’t want to fight Cory Spinks no more.  I don’t want to fight Sechew Powell either.  No more southpaws!  Unless it’s Manny Pacquiao or Sergio Martinez.

DL: I’m sure James Kirkland, Erislandy Lara, and Austin Trout would probably love to fight you.  They’re all southpaws.

CB: Of course, of course.  But what do they bring to the table?  I’m the IBF champion.  I’m not here to get them to the next step.  I want Cotto and Mayweather.  I’m 39 years old and I’m only 5’6”!  Come and get it!  They should be beating down my door to fight me!  Put me in with the best, because I’m one of the best.

DL: Anything in closing?

CB: I’m a promotional and managerial free agent and I wanted to tell Boxingtalk first.  I’m looking to sign with the Pistons, man.  Tell Mark Cuban to give me a call.  Through God, all things are possible.  2012 is going to be my year.  Also, you can follow me on Twitter at k9boxing.  The Dog is coming!
