JOE DEGUARDIA IN STABLE CONDITION AFTER HORRIFIC CAR ACCIDENT
By Socrates Palmer, Jr.
Promoter Joe DeGuardia is in stable but guarded condition at a hospital in Nassau County, New York after being the victim of a head-on car collision just hours after his show in Huntington. At about 4:15 AM, a man driving a black Honda drove the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway, colliding head-on with DeGuardia’s automobile. DeGuardia, president of Star Boxing, was driving home after visiting the home of matchmaker Ron Katz’s who lives minutes away from where Star Boxing was showcasing Chris Algeri at The Huntington Paramount on Saturday night. The Bronx based promoter is said to be doing well despite the horrifying accident. Dottie Raven, DeGuardia’ stepmother said he had angel with him. Police reports stated the wrong-way driver died at the scene. Katz told Boxingtalk it’s a miracle, “that Joe does not have a scratch when you look at his car.” Boxingtalk's prayers and well wishes go out to Mr. DeGuardia and his family on a full and healthy recovery. UPDATE: DeGuardia has reportedly been released from the hospital and is resting at home.
