ROY JONES GETS SPLIT DECISION NOD TO KEEP CAREER ALIVE
Compiled By Richard Evans
Roy Jones W10 Pawel Glazewski... The career of Roy Jones Jr. will continue as he won a split decision over previously unbeaten but little-known Pawel Glazewski in Poland. The fight, competitive throughout, saw Jones looking overall very slow with his movement, but still showing decent hand speed. The pay-per-view scorecard had Glazewski winning the fight by a comfortable margin but was closer than their scorecards suggested. Still, Glazewski (now 17-1 with just 4 KOs) is an opponent Jones would have decimated ten years ago. Jones was knocked down in the sixth round by a counter left hook that seemed to catch him off balance but did little real damage. Jones did take a few clean, solid punches that didn't seem to bother him much. Against the light-hitting Glazewski, perhaps that was to be expected. Jones looked sharp in spots, and the tenth round was his best, as he showed good hand speed and hurt Glazewski with a left hook toward the end of the round. Next for Jones (56-8) appears to be a WBC cruiserweight title shot against another Pole, Krzystzof Wlodarczyk. Jones will have to find a way to be much sharper to even compete with, much less defeat, Wlodarczyk. source: ppv broadcast
