ALL-MEXICO 130-POUND BATTLE TO HIGHLIGHT FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS ON JULY 20
Press Release: On July 20th at The Edgewater Casino in Laughlin, Nevada, Juan Carlos Burgos (29-1 with 19 KOs) will look to make it five straight wins when he takes on Cesar Vazquez (25-0 with 16 KOs) in a ten-round all-Mexico junior lightweight bout. ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights will televise.
Burgos, 24 years old, came up short in a featherweight title opportunity against the distinguished Hozumi Hasegawa, but since then Burgos has had four victories, including wins over previously undefeated Luis Cruz and former world titlist Cristobal Cruz on February 24th.
Vazquez, 26 years old, makes his American debut. He is coming off a third-round knockout over Carlos Medlin on January 21st.
Promoter Art Pelullo said “This is an important fight with a lot on the line. The winner will be on a short list to receive a title shot. Everybody knows that when two Mexican fighters square off there is also a lot of pride on the line as well so I expect this to be an explosive fight."
