ROJAS AND ARCE WAGE SPIRITED NO CONTEST
By Scott Shaffer

Jesus Rojas NC Jorge Arce... A brilliant first round was ruined by an unsatisfying second round that resulted in a no contest when Jorge Arce claimed he could no longer continue due to an unintentional foul. Arce scored a flash knockdown in the opening seconds of the featherweight bout but Rojas got up and outslugged Arce in an exciting two and a half minutes of action. Arce could not continue and referee Kenny Bayless called it a no contest, explaining that Rojas landed a low blow but it was a follow-up shot that Rojas landed behind Arce's ear a second later which left Arce unable to continue. Replays show the low blow was mostly blocked by Arce's elbow. It is impossible to tell if Arce was exaggerating the effects of the punch to his ear, but Arce has been in enough wars over the years to get the benefit of the doubt. Expect a rematch. source: hbo ppv
