BAILEY OBLITERATES JONES WITH ONE-PUNCH KO
By Scott Shaffer
Randall Bailey KO11 Mike Jones... Until the explosive ending, it was a dull match that sent hundreds of thousands of television viewers over to ESPN to watch the Heat-Celtics NBA game. But Randall Bailey woke up from a sleepwalking performance to win the vacant IBF welterweight title with a knockout-of-the-year contender over Mike Jones. The 37 year-old Bailey, now a two-division titlist, wept tears of joy after a career-saving uppercut in the eleventh round left Jones rolling around on the canvas. Jones started slow for two rounds, but then was busy enough to win the majority of the non-action rounds. Bailey finally showed his vaunted power in the tenth round when he floored Jones, but it was near the end of the round, so Bailey had little opportunity to follow up before the bell round. The next round, Bailey separated Jones from his senses with perhaps his first uppercut of the fight. It was spectacular: blood flew and Jones tried but failed to stand up. Jones foolishly agreed to fight Bailey using eight-ounce gloves when he could have insisted both men wear ten-ounce gloves. source: ppv
