MADS LARSEN COMEBACK HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK'S DANISH BOXING SCENE
Sven Ottke weighs in former opponent's chances
Press Release: Ex-WBA/IBF super middleweight champion Sven Ottke believes Mads Larsen (51-3, 38 KOs) has a difficult challenge coming up on Saturday night when he takes on undefeated Englishman Luke Blackledge (9-0, 3 KOs) in Herning, Denmark. The “Phantom” wishes his former opponent, who is now trained by Ottke´s ex-coaching team of Ulli Wegner and Georg Bramowski, all the best for his comeback. “Mads is a very good fighter, he is technically very skilled and a top athlete,” Ottke said. “However, to make a comeback fight against an up-and-coming unbeaten guy can be very tricky. His experience will help him, but it will come down to the question of whether he can really hang in there when things get rough. If he is well prepared – which I am sure he is because I know his coaches – then he should do fine.
Ottke, who retired as 34-0 title holder, edged Larsen by majority decision back in 2003, but holds no hard feelings toward Larsen. "I wish him well and hope he makes a successful comeback.”
In the co-feature, WBA/WBC/WBO female Welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus (19-0, 5 KOs) defends her titles against Jessica Balogun (22-1, 10 KOs). Reda Zam Zam, Ahmad Kaddour, Torben Keller and Erik Skoglund will also be in action, as will light heavyweight Karo Murat (24-1, 14 KOs), who takes on Sandro Siproshvilli (25-12, 12 KOs).
Tickets for the Nordic Fight Night are available at billetnet.dk, via phone (+45 7033 1333) and at the MCH box office at MCH Herning Kongrescenter. The TV3+ broadcast starts at 20h.
