MINUS THE PEDS, ROMERO NO MATCH FOR VILORIA

Brian Viloria TKO9 Omar Romero... Brian Viloria got revenge over Omar Niņo Romero while retaining his WBO flyweight title over the course of nine one-sided rounds. After a bit of a slow start, Viloria started hammering Romero in the fourth and opened up a deep cut over Romero's left eye in the fifth. Romero continued to push forward but his offense wasn't clicking and his defense seemed nonexistent. Romero's beating came to an end in the ninth round when Viloria landed a right hand, left uppercut combination flush to the head of Romero, whose corner subsequently jumped into the ring to stop the fight. Viloria now improves to 31-3 with 18 KOs whole Romero drops to 31-5-3 with 13 KOs. The revenge had to be sweet for Viloria because not only did he lose once to Romero at 108 pounds, a second loss to Romero was ultimately voided because Romero cheated with performance enhancing drugs. --John McCormick
