HAMDAN GETS WBO TITLE CHANCE THIS WEEKEND VS. STIEGLITZ
Press Release: Super middleweight Robert Stieglitz will defend his WBO title this weekend in Erfurt, Germany against a late replacement, Australia's Nader Hamdan. According to Sauerland Event, the winner of the bout will then have to face Arthur Abraham, the mandatory challenger, in the next fight. Hamdan, 43-9-1, last fought in July, winning a twelve-round decision against Daniel Pawsey, 13-4. In 2008, Hamdan dropped a title bid to Anthony Mundine. This opportunity presented itself when the UK's George Groves signed to face Stieglitz but then dropped out with an injury. "Right know I am not even thinking about facing Arthur [Abraham]," said Stieglitz. “I am only concentrating on the next fight. As soon as I have won the bout on Saturday night, we can start talking about Arthur Abraham.”
