MINI MID-WEEK MAILBAG
By G. Leon
Mr. Leon: If Mosley is having trouble finding an opponent, he should look no further than Zab Judah. I think this fight makes more sense then Mosley's other options. Pacquiao doesn't want to fight him. Mayweather would rather fight Pacquiao or Cotto before mixing it up with Mosley. He seems to be having trouble getting Berto to commit. Mosley said on Twitter that he'd fight Paul Williams at 147 lbs, but I'm sure that's not high on his list. Zab seems to make the most sense. Zab fought hard and lost to Mayweather and Cotto, but gave it all that he had on those two occasions. Let me know if you think I'm wrong, but there isn't much out there for Mosley at this point. I even think Zab would demand less than Berto lol, but that's none of my business. Mosley is about 38 years old or in that range. He's not getting any younger. He needs to stop playing the wall and get out there with the fighter who will help him generate a decent pay day for himself. Eric Figueroa Jersey City, USA
Leon's Response: Shane Mosley is a welterweight and Zab Judah plans on campaigning at 140 pounds. Once Zab delivers on Friday night, I'm confident that he will get the opportunities he needs and as long as he continues to deliver, 2010 will be his best year in boxing. Mosley is going to be fighting Andre Berto on January 30. I'm sure Paul Williams would fight Mosley at welterweight as well. Mosley is in line to have a big year at welterweight. Pacquiao, Cotto, Margarito adn Mayweather are too many names for their not to be a big fight.
Yo Greg, whats good? It's good to have you back bubbling the mailbag. What's the deal with Verno Phillips? Is he out of that bitter contract dispute or what? According to your buddy Dan Rafael he is. If he is, what's next? If he isn't, then what's the hold up? Why not a buy out or something? Keep up the good work G. Peace
Leon's Response: Verno's situation is ongoing but (with my fingers crossed) hopefully nearing its closure. Once he's out the game plan is simple, get him a win and make the Angulo fight. Not too brainy, but effective.
What's up G?? Your boy Money May is just 'laying back in the cut' waiting for the SMOKE to clear!! He done did his thing and he's keeping a low profile so nobody knows what he's thinking or gonna do. I heard that the Williams/ Maritnez fight when made will be fought at the 160lbs limit not 154.
Leon's Response: One thing you might not know is that Floyd is hoping Dmitriy Salita pulls the upset over Amir Khan so the two could meet Spring 2010 at YANKEE STADIUM. Salita wins, there is no other fight for Floyd next. Salita loses, then it's got to be either Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto or Shane Mosley. If there's anybody else he can do a million homes plus with, please let me know.
