EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: NIKOLAY VALUEV
By G. Leon
GL: Can you tell us what you think about David Haye as a fighter? "He is a strong opponent, very fast with a strong punch. I expect a tough fight."
GL: This is a very interesting match-up of size against speed. Can you tell us why your size and not his speed will be the difference in this fight?
NV: We will find out on November 7. I have trained well and prepared for Haye. If I stick to my tactics, I will leave the ring as the winner.
GL: Haye has only fought once at heavyweight, do you view him as a legitimate heavyweight threat?
NV: Yes! He is a strong fighter and he deserves his title shot. He talks too much, though.
GL: What have you learned since your fight with Ruslan and is that a fight you're looking to avenege?
NV: There have been so many changes that my new coach, Alexander Zimin, has made. I have become a completely different fighter. We have changed the training routine, the preparation, the tactics – everything. Alexander has made me a much better figher and I will once again prove that on November 7.
GL: Do you see a rematch with Evander Holyfield in your future?
NV: No. Evander is a great champion and it was an honour to fight him, but after I have beaten Haye, I want to unify the titles.
GL: Do you think you'll ever share a ring with a Klitschko? Why do you think it hasn't happened already?
NV: I have said so many times that I want to get in the ring with them. However, right now, my focus is on David Haye. Once I have defeated him, we´ll see what happens.
GL: Do you have a prediction for the Haye fight?
NV: I never make any predictions, but I will defend my title.
GL: Closing thoughts?
NV: Thank you very much for your support!
