BT PROSPECT WATCH: JAMES "KEEP'EM SLEEPIN" STEVENSON
By Ryan Burton
Junior Middleweight prospect James "Keep'em Sleepin" Stevenson (8-0) speaks to BoxingTalk.
BoxingTalk: What is new with you?
JS: Not much. Just got finished training at the gym.
BT: How is training going?
JS: It is pretty good. Pretty good. You know I am training very hard for this fight.
BT: Have you made any changes in your training routine for this fight?
JS: No. I am just staying busing. Just staying busy.
BT: What do you know about your opponent this Friday, Manuel Guzman?
JS: I heard that Manuel is real tough. I heard that he has fought some tough opponents and that he has never been stopped. That gives me the drive to go out there and try to stop him. To train real hard.
BT: So you are looking for the knockout?
JS: Yeah. That is what I want to do.
BT: Who gave you your nickname, "Keep'em Sleepin" and how did you get it?
JS: Well me and my trainer thought of it after the first couple of knockouts that I had. We said that after the 5th knockout that I would go by Keep'em Sleepin. I knocked the guy out in my 5th fight so thats when we started with the nickname. Plus nobody else has that name so it is original.
BT: How much seasoning do you think you need before you are ready for a title shot?
JS: I don't know. I leave all that up to my manager.
BT: How many fights would you like to get in this year?
JS: Well I am 8-0 now. I would like to get up to 20-0.
BT: If you manage that you will be a real busy guy.
JS: I want to fight at least once a month.
BT: Do you have a prediction for your fight?
JS: No I don't have a prediciton. I am just going to go out there and do my job.
BT: Last question. Do you have a message for the fans?
JS: I am not going to let them down. I hope they come and see me because they are definitely going to get their money's worth.
BT: Good luck in your fight.
