| SINCE DK WON'T DEAL WITH JUDAH: GREAT HOMECOMING VS. SPADAFORA OR MAIDANA MORE LIKELY By G. Leon
Boxingtalk has been informed that the Scott Trade Center in St. Louis, Missouri is holding July dates for the homecoming og undefeated WBC and IBF junior welterweight champion Devon Alexander "The Great". It first appeared that Zab Judah would get the fight when he shared Devon's post fight interview following his stoppage over Urango. With Judah's previous victory over St. Louisan Cory Spinks, the fight would have sold itself, but Boxingtalk understands that Don King will not do any further business with Judah until he is repaid what he feels Judah owes him. With Judah out of the equation, former lightweight champ Paul Spadafora and Victor Ortiz conqueror Marcos Maidana appear to be the frontrunners to land the bout. Remember where you heard it first! 3:00 PM ET

| PACQUIAO PITCHES SHUT-OUT AGAINST TIMID CLOTTEY By G. Leon
Manny Pacquiao UD12 Joshua Clottey: Coming into the event many were expecting WBO welterweight champion and pound for pound kingpin Manny Pacquiao, 51-3-2(38) to do what he does, utterly amaze us. Unfortunately, the best we could get was a Pacquiao shut-out due to a lack of effort from Joshua Clottey. Pacquiao was racking up the points early on, based on his workrate, but Clottey was catching him with some solid right hands that became fewer and far between as the fight progressed.Clottey may have landed more clean shots on Pacquiao than De La Hoya, Hatton and Cotto combined, but his timid workrate prevented him from earning any new fans. Clottey, 35-4 (21) never won a round on Boxingtalk's scorecard. Official scores were 120-108, 119-109, 119-109

| | HUMBERTO SOTO NOW A THREE TIME CHAMP By G. Leon
Humberto Soto UD12 David Diaz: Former WBC lightweight champion David Diaz suffered a cut alongside his right eye about 90 seconds in. Moments later, Diaz's right glove touched the canvas when Soto caught him with a power shot while he was off balance, awarding Soto the knockdown and 10-8 round. After three rounds Soto was clearly four points ahead. The next three rounds each produced furious exchanges, all of which took place in the closing seconds of each respective frame. Diaz's best round of the fight was the seventh, but also won eight and nine, narrowing Soto's lead to one point on Boxingtalk's scorecard going into the championship rounds. Soto rebounded well in the tenth, and his late flurry in the closing moments appeared to the difference in the round. Diaz won the eleventh, but was losing the twelfth and dropped in the closing seconds of the final round. Official scores were 115-111, 117-109, 117-109 for Soto, now a three time champion. Overall it was another professionally fought, competitive, but unfortunately uneventful bout to round off Top Rank's lackluster undercard in front of the quietest 50,994 you'll ever not hear. But it won't be quiet for long

| | GOMEZ STOPS A SHOT CASTILLO IN 6, UNEVENTFUL TELEVISED UNDERCARD CONTINUES By G. Leon
Alfonso Gomez TKO6 Jose Luis Castillo: Sadly, former lightweight great and future hall of famer Jose Luis Castillo returned to ring tonight as a welterweight shell of himself because as HBO commentators so throughly pointed out, he's in a financial crisis. The worst round of Duddy-Medina was better than either of the first three rounds of this bout. Gomez outworked the shot Mexican legend throughout and began to put a beating on Castillo in rounds four and five and Castillo's corner properly ended the fight and hopefully Castillo's career. Gomezimproved to 22-4-2 (10). Castillo falls to 60-10-1 (52)

| | DUDDY GETS SPLIT DECISION OVER MEDINA By G. Leon
John Duddy SD10 Michael Medina: John Duddy, one of the most prominent ticket sellers in boxing, did his part to ensure that he shares a ring with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr later this year. Medina landed his best punch of he fight during the final seconds of round 7 when a right hand rocked Duddy and sent him to his corner on shaky legs. Duddy did his best work in round nine and generally outworked the smaller Medina to win this professionally fought, but very ordinary bout via split decision. Medina was deducted a point for low blows in round eight. Duddy improves to 29-1 (18), Medina falls to 23-2-2 (18) Official scores were 96-93, 93-96, 96-93

| BOXINGTALK'S DAILY BREAD By Stephen Edwards
Whats going on Boxingtalk? Whats the deal Bread? I have been loving your mail bags man keep it up! I got some picks for up coming fights I would like to get your opinion on because im coming straight at your neck with one of the picks. Clottey vs Pacquaio I think its going to be a good fight and Im still going back and fourth but these two thoughts are constant can Clottey be active enough to win a descion? and Can manny stay disciplined and win a stay on the outside not go for the big punch type of fight? as im writing this my answer to both questions is no. What I see happening is manny expending alot of energey trying to punch through that clottey guard and after watching some old Ike Quartey fights and Josh Clottey fights I picked up on a few things clottey has the same trouble against top level fighters that ike did in that they get out worked because of that peek a boo defense but one thing I noticed that clottey dose that quartey wasnt that good with is return punches in combination and clottey throws a beautiful left hook to the body left hook to the head combo it looks real nice on TV but I also noticed in watching some old pacquaio fights manny dosent do well with body punches im gonna call for clottey to win by a stoppage from a accumlative boddy attack from clottey but I wouldnt be suprised if manny won by UD. Mayweather vs Mosley Bread you have been saying you like "Mosley's fighting spirit" but to floyd mayweathers credit he is so calm and relaxed in that ring he dosent allow him self to get caught in the heat of a battle he is always clear headed and calculating next to bhop I cant think of any other fighter that is able to make adjustments mayweather is able to do sometimes mid-round I also think your making a mistake in thinking shane will be able to just cut off the ring jab and walk floyd down I honestly think the best way to fight floyd is on the outside the shoulder roll is perfect for inside fighting I see shane fighitng hard and testing floyd but I think floyd will just be too good a boxer I got a feeling shane mosley will be walking into alot of mayweather right hands and dont forget about that mayweather ability to rise to the occasion its like a kobe bryant or mike jordan in crunch time when it matters most floyd puts on his best and most clutch performances also you have to rememebr shane had to resort to being the puncher vs cotto because he couldnt box with him if he has to go to slugging with cotto how can he possibly think he's gonna be able to box with "lil floyd" (in my mayweather sr voice)
Bread’s Response: We both know that just because fighter A, beat fighter B, and fighter C beat fighter A, that doesn’t always mean that fighter C can beat fighter B. Mosley, Cotto, Margarito. Cotto did outbox Shane no doubt. But I think Shane is going to fight the fight of his life May 1st. If I’m wrong so be it. I say Manny beats Clottey in an extremely tough fight. Let’s see May 2nd. By the way Ike Quartey is slightly better than Clottey. He is more athletic and more dynamic. Clottey has a better chin though.

| | CAN JOSHUA CLOTTEY WIN THE BIG ONE? By Socrates Palmer Jr
There is a sense of irony that Saturday’s Joshua Clottey and Manny Pacquaio fight will be contested at the home of the Dallas Cowboys. My contrast to the NFL is that Clottey is trying to avoid becoming the Buffalo Bills of boxing. The Bills of the 1990’s were the greatest team in history that never won the Super Bowl. They went 0-4 in the big game in consecutive years. Forever they have been maybe unjustly labeled as chokers or failures. Clottey despite being a former world title holder and universally recognized as one of the best boxers in the sport today, he has failed to win the “Big Fight.”

| BOXINGTALK'S DAILY BREAD By Stephen Edwards
Hey what's up Breadman? What do you think about a super 6 like tournament at 140? I think that this is the most talented division in boxing today. The tournament could have two young undefeated champions in Alexander, and Bradley. Four former champions in Hatton, Marquis, Judah, and Diaz. I wouldn't mind if Campbell, Peterson, or Holt were involved. They could even make it an eight man or maybe 10 man tournament. It would be more entertaining than the Tourney going on at 168. (which I'm really enjoying so far) Come on Bread I know you guys at boxing talk got juice make this happen. Faithfull reader Richie Rich
Bread’s Response: Richie Rich the power of the pen is something. I will do my part. A junior welter tourney would be great. Especially since the only real PPV attraction is Ricky Hatton and he is in limbo. I think we are getting a tournament of sorts just not in a concentrated format. Maidana v Cayo is coming up. Nate Campbell is about to fight Victor Ortiz. Alexander/Judah is about to get made. Bradley just beat Peterson. So who knows… After these upcoming fights play out lets see what pressure
