Weigh-in report from Munich: Dorticos and Briedis make weight

IBF cruiserweight champion Yuniel Dorticos and Mairis Briedis both made the cruiserweight limit ahead of tomorrow’s World Boxing Super Series Ali Trophy final at the Plazamedia Studios in Munich. Dorticos, "The KO Doctor" (24-1, 22 KOs), weighed in at 199 pounds, compared to 198 for Briedis (26-1, 19 KOs). Dorticos said, “I can’t wait for tomorrow night it’s going to be fireworks. Tomorrow I will pick up where Muhammad Ali left 44 years ago when he produced his last KO of his career here in Munich. I will pick up where his footsteps left meaning I will carry on with his legacy.”
 
Briedis (26-1, 19 KOs) said, “We have done a tremendous job at training camp. We truly believe we will show a spectacular fight.”

The World Boxing Super Series Season II Cruiserweight Final between Mairis Briedis and Yuniel Dorticos takes place behind-closed-doors tomorrow at the Plazamedia Studios in Munich at 23:00 pm (CET). On the line: The Muhammad Ali Trophy and the IBF world championship. The final will be shown live on DAZN in the U.S. & Canada, Sky Sports in the UK, and Bildplus in Germany.
 
***- NOTE: Event organizers say Robert Talarek returned a negative Covid-19 test result, but due to doctors’ advice and the stringent hygiene and safety protocols in place around the World Boxing Super Series event, as well as the requirements from the Bavarian authorities, the boxer will be removed from the event.
