Ugas-Figueroa named WBC welterweight eliminator

Cuba's Yordenis Ugas (pictured) returns to the ring on July 20th against former WBC lightweight champion Omar Figueroa in a WBC welterweight elimination bout that will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Ugas (23-4, 11 KOs), 32, has been one of the most outstanding welterweight contenders in boxing, fighting three times each in 2017 and 2018. Ugas had an eight-win streak before losing a close split decision against WBC welterweight champion Shawn Porter. The winner of Ugas-Figueroa will be in line for the winner of an expected mega-fight between Porter and IBF champion Erroll Spence. That fight has no firm date yet. "I'm very excited to be back in the ring. Omar Figueroa Jr. is a tremendous fighter, and that's the style I like to face, I'm an action fighter and the fans are going to have a great fight." Ugas commented.
