Gabriel Maestre TKO2 Jeovanis Barraza... Five minutes and 16 seconds was enough time for Venezuela junior middleweight Gabriel Maestre who stopped Colombia's Jeovanis Barraza (20-1) at the Coliseo Baby Sugar Rojas in Barranquilla, Colombia. Maestre is a 32 year-old two-time Olympian. Maestre is listed as 1-0, but that is dishonest promotion as he previously competed as a pro in the World Series of Boxing.  According to the WBA, Maestre intends to campaign in both pro and amateur competition going forward, with the Pan-Am Games next on his agenda. Maestre floored Barraza twice and continued to punish him until the fight was stopped.

Dervis Colina (11-0, 8 KOs) prevailed, defeating Ernesto Spain (13-1, 12 KOs) via technical knockout in the first round. A straight right from Colina surprised his opponent, who went to the canvas.
