The Boxingtalk Scoreboard: CBS gets step-up win at cruiserweight

Chris Billam-Smith TKO2 Nathan Thorley ... Chris "CBS" Billam-Smith (11-1) blasted out Cardiff’s Nathan Thorley (14-1) in two rounds to retain his Commonwealth cruiserweight title in the opening bout of Matchroom's Fight Camp Week 2. The 30-year-old utilized his superior size and power, backing up Thorley until he took a knee from a CBS left hook at the end of round one. Sensing an early finish, Billam-Smith resumed his assault in the second round and clubbing punches again floored Thorley, who briefly fired back defiantly, before a crunching counter punch prompted the referee to wave it off. The win potentially sets up a shot at the vacant European title, previously held by Billam-Smith’s gym mate Lawrence Okolie, and Belfast’s Tommy McCarthy could be the man he faces for the belt later this year.

Anthony Fowler TKO7 Adam Harper ... Junior middleweight Anthony Fowler (13-1) looked back to form as he dominated the tough and game Adam Harper (9-2). Fowler dropped Harper in round four before sealing the win with a stoppage in the seventh. Fowler will now look towards a showdown with former British champ Ted Cheeseman or a rematch with Scott Fitzgerald (who beat Fowler by split decision in early 2019).

Hopey Price W6 Jonny Phillips... Leeds featherweight Hopey Price extended his unbeaten record to 3-0 with a composed points win over Sandhurst’s Jonny Phillips (5-5). The 20 year-old, trained and managed by Dave Coldwell in Rotherham, neutralized the early aggression of Phillips to seal a comfortable 60-54 verdict. source for all results: matchroom
