Report: Tommy Fury blocked from flying to USA for press conference

Quoting a social media post from the boxer himself, the British tabloid The Mirror reports that Tommy Fury was barred from flying to the United States ahead of Wednesday's press conference in New York's Madison Square Garden to promote an August 6th fight between Fury and social media idol Jake Paul. Although the reason for Fury's travel problem was not confirmed, members of Fury's family (his brother Tyson, the WBC heavyweight champion and father/trainer John) have had similar travel issues due to Tyson's association with Daniel Kinahan, an alleged international drug importer turned boxing advisor and John's prior history of violent crime. Paul vs. Fury is scheduled to be a Showtime pay-per-view event on August 6th.

Statement from Most Valuable Promotions: “Despite many assurances by Tommy Fury’s team that he was able to come to the U.S., and knowing that Tommy was in California just last month, we were surprised to learn that he had an issue at Heathrow Airport on Monday. As a result of circumstances out of our control, the scheduled press conference for Wednesday at MSG has been postponed. We are working with our partners at Showtime and Madison Square Garden and will share more information as soon as we are able.”
