Povetkin and Hunter fight to a draw

Alexander Povetkin D12 Mike Hunter ... Russia's Alexander Povetkin (pictured) and Mike Hunter of the United States fought to a draw in a very competitive heavyweight fight. Offical scores were 115-113 Povetkin, 115-113 Hunter and 114-114. The draw verdict was certainly reasonable. Hunter was credited with outlanding Povetkin, 140 punches to 95. On the other hand, the referee arguably failed to credit Povetkin with a knockdown of Hunter and also, Povetkin had a slight edge in power punches landed. DAZN's Chris Mannix favored Povetkin on his unofficial scoerecard but later said a draw was justifiable. The draw allows the 40 year-old Povetkin to remain a viable contender,  although his time at the top is running short. The 2004 Olympic gold medalist is now 35-2-1 with losses only to Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko. Povetkin vs. former world cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk certainly would be a welcome fight for boxing fans arund the world. The draw is a step forward for Hunter, 18-1-1 overall and 6-0-1 as a heavyweight. source: dazn
