Saul Alvarez TKO3 Avni Yildirim ... WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez dismantled a pathetic challenger, Avni Yildirim of Turkey, in three rounds at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Yildirim made no effort to win. In the third round, Alvarez landed a straight right hand that sent Yildirim to the canvas. Although he got up and was able to finish the round, he decided not to come out for the fourth round. Yildirim had not won a fight since 2018 and was corruptly thrust into this fight by the WBC, who named Yildirim as the mandatory contender. This non-fight was little more than an infomercial for Alvarez's next appearance, which was announced minutes afterwards. Alvarez will face WBO title holder Billy Joe Saunders on May 8th.
