Diego Pacheco TKO5 Enrique Collazo... The 6’4” super middleweight Diego Pacheco, 167 lbs., of Los Angeles earned a victory against Enrique Collazo, 167.8 lbs., of San Juan, Puerto Rico. From the outset, Pacheco patiently stalked Collazo, walking him back with a stiff jab. In round five, Pacheco trapped Collazo in a neutral corner then launched an overhand right that staggered his foe. With Collazo on unsteady legs, Pacheco threw a follow-up combination downstairs to send him to the canvas. When Collazo made it to his feet, Pacheco unloaded a barrage of power punches to force a stoppage at the 2:29 mark of the frame. Pacheco improved to 16-0 (13 KOs), while Collazo’s record fell to 16-3-1 (11 KOs).

Marc Castro TKO5 Kevin Montiel Mendoza... Lightweight Marc Castro, 134.4 lbs., of Fresno, CA, scored an explosive knockout against Mexican Kevin Montiel Mendoza, 135.2 lbs., to improve to 8-0 (6 KOs). Applying pressure, Castro had success landing his straight right hand. As the rounds progressed, he varied his attack, digging shots to the body in round two. In round five, with Mendoza near the ropes, Castro landed a flush right uppercut to his chin, sending him to the deck in a heap. Referee Tony Weeks stepped in an called a halt to the action at the 1:40 mark. Mendoza left the ring at 6-2-2 (3 KOs). Castro, who began boxing at age four under the tutelage of his father, was a highly touted amateur. Accumulating a 177-7 record, Castro became a two-time world amateur champion, two-time National Junior Olympics champion, and a 16-time National champion.

Aaron Aponte D8 Fernando Angel Molina,... Young, unbeaten junior welterweights Aaron Aponte, 139.8 lbs., of Hialeah, FL, and Fernando Angel Molina, 140 lbs., of Guadalajara, Mexico, battled to an exciting, eight-round draw. The bout began with both fighters mixing it up, eager to take control. After getting dropped in round two, the 20-year-old Molina sent Aponte to the canvas in the fifth with a right hand. Down the stretch, Aponte, 21 years old, appeared to tire, with Molina the aggressor. The judges tallied 76-74 each way, and 75-75. Both Aponte and Montiel were accomplished amateurs. Aponte compiled an impressive 98-18 amateur record, while competed in over 200 fights, winning gold at the 2017 National Junior Championships. As a pro, Aponte is now 6-0-1 (2 KOs), with Molina moving to 8-0-1 (3 KOs).

Anthony Herrera W5 Delvin McKinley,... Anthony Herrera, 114.8 lbs., from East Los Angeles opened up the Canelo-Golovkin III undercard, winning a fifth-round technical decision versus Delvin McKinley, 116 lbs., of New Orleans, LA. The Californian kept pumping his jab and outboxed McKinley over the first four frames. At the start of the fifth, McKinley went down from a clash of heads and was unable to continue. The fight was stopped 19 seconds into the round, with Herrera ahead on all scorecards at 50-45. He improved to 3-0-1 (2 KOs), while McKinley’s record is now an even 4-4-1 (4 KOs). As an amateur, Herrera won the 2018 National PAL tournament, 2019 Western Elite Qualifier tournament, and came in second at the 2020 US Olympic Team Trials.
