McCaskill retains championship on Ibarra quit job

Jessica McCaskill TKO3 Alma Ibarra World welterweight champion Jessica McCaskill (12-2) successfully defended all belts at the Tech Port Arena in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday when challenger Alma Ibarra disappointingly quit on her stool after three rounds of action. The contest started with sparks as McCaskill came out throwing everything without letting Ibarra. The chalenger at times managed to connect on some punches, but without effect.  After the first three rounds, the fierceness of McCaskill, a Chicago native apparently frightened the Mexican fighter. When the referee called her to come out for the fourth round, Ibarra yelled "No!" to her trainer decided not to come out. Thus, "Caskilla" won her third defense and remains the owner of the WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF and IBO welterweight belts. Ibarra goes home with a good record (10-2) but also a mark of shame on her resume.

McCaskill’s childhood was not easy. Raised in St. Louis by her great aunt, became homeless, sleeping in the back of a church. From the age of eight, she lived through extreme situations that forced her to grow up quickly. It was not until 2012 that she traveled to Chicago when she found a job at RJ O’Brien & Associates as a regulatory reporting analyst, also graduating with a degree in Finance. In 2017 she was defeated by lightweight champion Katie Taylor. She bounced back and in her next fight she moved up a division to defeat tough champion Erica Farias via unanimous decision. In her next fight she defeated Anahi Ester Sánchez to consolidate two tiltes in the 140-pound division. She immediately gave Erica Farias a rematch and defeated her via majority decision. In August 2020, she was presented with the opportunity to face then-undefeated undisputed worl welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus. She defeated Braekhus twice to become one of female boxing's biggest stars.
