Majidov, an Azerbaijani, won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics and gold at the 2011, 2013 and 2014 World Championships, all in the super heavyweight division. He holds an amateur win over former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. He went 12-3 in the World Series of Boxing and is now trained by former champion John David Jackson. At the start of the DAZN telecast from Saudi Arabia, Majidov stopped Britain's Tom Little in round two. Little is just 10-8 but is an Anthony Joshua sparring partner who knows how to handle himself in the ring. Majidov knocked the overweight Little down hard in round two, but to Little's credit, he got up and fought hard.
