Frampton "devastated" by hand injury

Former world featherweight champion Carl Frampton has shared his thoughts on the freak injury that has forced him to withdraw from Saturday’s scheduled fight with Emmanuel Dominguez. Frampton (26-2, 15 KOs) has suffered a left hand injury after a large ornament fell onto him, meaning he will be unable to compete in his scheduled fight at The Liacouras Center in Philadelphia. Frampton told the JOE TKO Podcast: “I’m devastated. Obviously I wanted to fight, but it’s the fact I’ve been away from my wife and kids during the summer holiday, and it feels like an absolute waste. “I’ve been out here in Philadelphia for three and a bit weeks now and I’ve got nothing to show for it. They say in four to six weeks it should be fine, but obviously I haven’t got four to six weeks as the fight was on Saturday. I know people expect you to say this about camp being good and perfect, but this is genuinely the most disciplined I’ve ever been in sparring. I was listening to instructions and everything, and then I get my hand smashed. You’d think an item like that should be nailed to the floor yet it isn’t, so you couldn’t make it up.”
