Following comeback win Eric Hunter wants to stay busy

Greg Leon: Congrats on your recent comeback victory over German Meraz. How did it feel to shake the rust off? Can you give us some thoughts on your peformance? Eric Hunter: "I felt good. I was dealing with certain stuff before the fight, I had a little arm problem and I twisted my foot in the fight, but it was cool though. It felt great though to finally be back in the ring and get some of this rust off. GL: Are these injuries the kind that could delay or postpone your next fight? Eric Hunter: "Oh no, no, no. I want to be back in the ring as soon as possible."

GL Why were you off for so long? Weren't you a promotional free agent this whole time?

EH: "It is what it is. I don't want to be on here and say this or that about anybody. I ain't trying to focus on yesterday-- it's all about what's coming today and tomorrow.  I'm just glad I got the win and I want to get right back in the ring asap, like next week if I could."

GL: Will you be campaigning at featherweight or 130?

EH: "I will be fighting at 126. I could make 126 easy, but I could also fight at 130 if I get a major opportunity up there."

GL: How did you and Dmitriy Salita link up?

EH: "He offered me an opportunity to get back in the ring and I took it, it was pretty simple. I've heard good things about him and I'm expecting him and my manager to deliver me the fights and keep me busy."

GL: How many more fights before you feel like you're ready for a top ten guy in the division?

EH: "Another couple for sure. I'm trying to do everything right this time around, there's no rush. I just need to be active and stay busy, having that next date in my pocket will keep me motivated and I just want to stay busy and get fully sharpened up before I get in there with one of the best in the divison. I still got some work to do, I've been off three years and I feel sharp, but that guy I fought is the kind of guy I should be getting rid of in a round or two."

GL: Is there any early indication when your next fight might take place?

EH: "I don't know anything yet, but I want them to get me something as soon as possible. You know how the game is, to be sharp you got to be busy and I want to be razor sharp when we get to the big fight, because I'm out here doing this to win the big fights."

GL: Closing thoughts for the fans.

EH: "I'm back in the win column and as long as I stay busy, when the time comes I'm going to be ready to take anybody's belt at 126 pounds."
