Ammo Williams outpoints Kieron Conway

Austin Williams W10 Kieron Conway,... Opening up the DAZN pay-per-view broadcast, Houstom middleweight Austin “Ammo” Williams overcame a spirited effort from Kieron Conway, 159.2 lbs., of Northamptonshire, England, in going the ten-round distance for the first time. The 26-year-old southpaw, trained by renowned coach Kevin Cunningham, found early success launching his overhand left as he moved forward. By the third, the crafty Conway began to time Williams’ advances with stiff jabs down the middle. Williams then tried his attack from varied angles. In round six, Williams was throwing lead right hooks when Conway rallied with series of jab-straight right combinations upstairs that forced the aggressive American to reset his feet. Conway’s ability to land countershots was making it difficult for Williams to get inside and land clean shots. In the ninth, with his nosed bloodied, Conway was dropped against the ropes by a sneaky right uppercut from Williams. The scorecards read 97-92 twice, and 96-93, all for Williams, who improved to 12-0 (9 KOs). Conway was sent home with a 18-3-1 (4 KOs) record.
