Albert Ramirez gains undeserved victory over Lerrone Richards

Albert Ramirez W12 Lerrone Richards... Venezuelan light heavyweight Albert Ramirez was pushed to the limit in an extremely controversially judged contest. In a tactical chess match held in Ramirez's home base of Montreal, Ramirez retained his WBA interim title with a split-decision victory over the British challenger Lerrone Richards in Montreal. The bout featured a constant clash of contrasting styles and produced divided opinions among the judges. After twelve rounds of action, Richards celebrated his apparent victory, while Ramirez remained nonexpressive. However, two scorecards favored Ramirez by identical margins of 115-113, while the third judge scored the fight 116-112 for Richards, resulting in a narrow victory for Ramirez.

The top five comments on Youtube clearly reflected the outrageous nature of the decision:

@Jboxing1: "The judges literally ruined what could’ve been one of the best comebacks in boxing in the last few years. During covid era Lerrone Richards was literally at the top of British boxing until he became horribly inactive and then lost to Steve Woodall. He finally fights for a world title even tho it’s an interim, he easily dominates the fight and gets robbed. Feel bad for Richards."

@soulstart89: "Wow. It was clear Richards won the fight. That was a horrible decision. He controlled the fight and handicapped his opponent."

@TheJazzDaddy: "You could see Ramirez already knew. Bent fight."

@jakzeu1803: "Awful robbery."

@lewisbarber1875: "Shame on you judges and those that pay them."
